Fair warning—there’s a lot of information packed into this post, so hang in there!

A Look Back at 2024

If you followed us on Facebook throughout the summer, you already know that 2024 was probably the best fishing year we’ve had in the 18 years we’ve owned the camp! We saw an unbelievable number of fish caught, including some monster walleyes and a fantastic increase in smallmouth bass, which have really started to thrive in recent years. The fishing action was nonstop, and we couldn’t have asked for better conditions.

But it wasn’t just about the fishing. We had an amazing time connecting with all of our guests. Whether it was out on the water, during our fish fries, or hanging out in the main lodge at night, the camaraderie was unforgettable. We truly have the most incredible guests—your energy and stories made this summer special, and we are so grateful for all the time spent together.

Looking back, it’s safe to say that 2024 was our best summer yet—full of great fishing, new friendships, and memories we’ll cherish forever.

A Personal Update

Some of you may already know, but for those who aren’t on Facebook, I wanted to share a personal update. Four days after returning to Kentucky in September, I was diagnosed with Stage 2 Breast Cancer. Just two weeks later, my diagnosis was changed to Stage 4 Metastatic Breast Cancer because it had spread to nine spots on my bones.

Our world was turned upside down as we navigated this unexpected journey. The months that followed were filled with doctor’s appointments, tests, consultations, and one surgery. Unlike the typical chemo treatments/radiation many are familiar with, this type of cancer isn’t curable—but it is treatable.

Thankfully, I’ve been tolerating my combination of chemo pills, and shots quite well. The good news is that the lump in my breast, which was initially 4 cm, has now shrunk to between 1.5 and 2 cm! This is an incredible sign that the cancer should no longer be spreading.

While this treatment and diagnosis are life-long, we are hopeful. Those first three months were some of the hardest of our family’s lives, but we have adjusted to this new journey and are moving forward with hope and faith. I’m looking forward to seeing you all this summer—thank you for all your love and support during this time.

We Got Puppies!

In more exciting news, we’ve added two new members to our family! Meet Maverick, a yellow male lab, and Journey, a black female lab. They’ll be about 7 months old when we get to camp. We’re working on getting them well-trained before summer, though right now they’re keeping us on our toes with their playful energy! We can’t wait for you to meet them when you’re at the lodge this summer.

2025 Updates

As we look ahead to 2025, there are a few updates I wanted to share with you:

  • Availability Calendar: It’s now fully updated and ready to go.
  • Pricing: This year’s pricing details have been updated.
  • Photos: A few new pictures have been updated (more to come)—check them out and see if you can spot the changes!

Planning for Summer 2025

If you’re planning to attend camp this summer, please take a moment to:

  • Check the availability calendar to ensure your group is included and the dates are correct.
  • Click on your name to confirm that your group’s information is accurate.

We’ve already had many weeks fill up, but there are still some spots available.

Exciting news for fishermen: We’ve opened up the last two weeks in August! These weeks were previously reserved for hunters, but we’ve moved the hunting season to September. Now fishermen can enjoy the lake through the end of August!  If you’re already booked for one week, why not book a second trip in August? Or consider a two-week trip—whether together or at separate times this summer—and enjoy $100 off your second week!

A quick reminder: your spot isn’t locked in until I’ve received a deposit from each member of your group. I’ve been getting lots of calls and emails from new guests, so if you’re hoping for a spot this summer, don’t wait—reach out ASAP!

Thank you again for making 2024 such a special year for us. We’re so grateful for the love and support we’ve received. Here’s to another amazing year ahead—Spring will be here before we know it.
